Carlos Gomes Theather
September 20, 1995
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Cesar Epitácio Maia, mayor of the city of Rio de Janeiro, Helena Severo, Municipal Bureau of Culture, and the CHEP '95 Co-Chairpersons invited all participants to an evening concert at the Carlos Gomes Theather. The concert was held especially for CHEP '95 participants and their invitees.

The first selection was performed by Edson Frederico on the piano. He was joined by Hélio Capucci and Ricardo do Canto on the guitar and bass to form a trio. They performed many Brazilian favorites like "Garota de Ipanema" (The Girl from Ipanema) composed by Tom Jobim and Vinícius de Moraes, and "Canções de Amor" (Songs of Love) composed by Cláudio Santoro, among others. The Brazilian String Orchestra performed the second half. They created a special type of music combining their classical background with the rhythm of the popular music using traditional Brazilian instruments.
